Nicholson & Company, established in 1983 by Brian Nicholson and based in Aptos, CA, specializes in providing comprehensive real estate appraisal and consulting services. Our clientele includes attorneys, banks, private individuals, and CPAs, offering appraisals for various property types such as commercial, residential, farmland, and vacant residential land.
Brian Nicholson holds certifications as a Certified General Appraiser with the State of California and as a Senior Residential Appraiser (SRA) with the Appraisal Institute. In 2012, he was appointed as a Probate Referee for Santa Cruz and Santa Clara Counties, underscoring his expertise in estate valuation.
We have a dedicated team of appraisers supported by a knowledgable and experienced staff. While our primary focus is the Monterey Bay region (Santa Cruz, Santa Clara, San Mateo, and Monterey Counties) we regularly complete assignments across the nation, particularly for specialized properties requiring specific knowledge and experience.
Brian Nicholson, SRA
Native to California, Brian’s family has lived on the Central Coast for 9 generations. He began his career as a real estate appraiser in 1979. With a dedication to his craft and a love for valuation, Brian began Nicholson & Co in 1983 in Santa Cruz County. Through the many years, he has continued to grow professionally, expanding his knowledge and valuation repertoire by specializing in estate administration appraisals, litigation support, casualty loss valuation, and Superior court probate valuation. He has appraised many types of properties, including national food chains, pueblo ranches, city center commercial developments and agricultural land and vineyards.
Throughout his career, Brian has dedicated himself to training others in the field of valuation. He pushes individuals to continuously learn, grow and expand their ability to understand the scope of work, and develop proper approaches to complete valuations with the utmost accuracy. With his professional affiliations, Brian is committed to knowledge and ethics in the field of valuation and adheres to all USPAP federal regulations as required for lending valuation.
